ANZAAN ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes the types of information we may collect from you, or that you may provide, when you use ANZAAN's website, services, and mobile application (collectively, the "Services"), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. This Policy does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any application or content (including advertising) that may link to or be accessible from or on ANZAAN's Services.
Please read this Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Services. By accessing or using ANZAAN's Services, you agree to this Policy. This Policy may change from time to time (see "Changes to Our Privacy Policy" below). We will provide notice of any such change, and your continued use of the Services after that notice constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
ANZAAN provides its Services to Schools (educational institutions and alumni associations) that use the platform to operate an alumni website and application for their own community. If you are a User of a School's ANZAAN site, administrators authorized by that School may be able to view, manage, or export certain Information about you within their community, subject to the School's own policies. This Policy addresses ANZAAN's own collection and use of Information as the platform provider.
ANZAAN collects several types of information to provide an efficient and effective experience to all users. When we provide the Services to you, your data is stored on our computers and servers. In some cases, your data may be accessible to individuals involved in operating the Services (administration, sales, marketing, legal, and system administration) or to external parties (such as third-party technical service providers, mail carriers, hosting providers, IT companies, and communications agencies) that we appoint as data processors as necessary. ANZAAN collects the following categories of information:
Personal Information and Non-Personal Information are collectively referred to as "Information."
ANZAAN collects Information in two ways: (1) information you provide directly, and (2) information we receive automatically through your use of our Services.
You may provide Information directly when you:
If you use a social media platform, mobile device, or other third-party method to interact with ANZAAN, that platform or application may have its own privacy policy governing how it handles your Personal Information, and we encourage you to review it.
When you use our Services, we may automatically collect certain information to improve our Services, troubleshoot issues, manage the Services, track usage, and understand referring traffic sources. This may include: IP address; profile information; aggregate user data; preferences; technical session information; browser type; information about your computer, hardware, software, or mobile device, including a device identifier; demographic information such as postal code; and navigational data including log files, server logs, clickstream data, and language preference. We record IP addresses for security, monitoring, and service-delivery purposes. If you arrive at our Services via a link from another webpage, we may receive aggregate or anonymous statistical information about that visit. We monitor traffic patterns and site usage to improve the design and content of our Services. Where we combine automatically collected information with Personal Information, we treat the combined data as Personal Information under this Policy.
ANZAAN and our service providers use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Services, remember your preferences, understand how you use the Services, and support the features described in this Policy. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies; if you do, some parts of the Services may not function properly. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals (see Section 13 below).
We use the Information we collect, including Personal Information, to:
If you no longer want to receive marketing communications, you may opt out at any time by emailing support@anzaan.com or clicking "unsubscribe" in our communications. We may still send you important notices about material changes to our terms, conditions, or policies, or about Services you've purchased, which are not subject to opt-out.
We may disclose Personal Information that we collect or that you provide:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Sharing information with subcontractors that provide support services, such as customer service, is permitted. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all other categories of information sharing and will not be shared with any third parties.
You have the right to know whether we have stored your Personal Information, to verify its accuracy, and to receive a copy of it. You also have the right to have your Information supplemented, updated, corrected, anonymized, or erased, or to block data held in violation of law. To make such a request, contact us at support@anzaan.com. We retain your Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, conduct our internal operations, and maintain records for financial reporting. We also retain and use Information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
ANZAAN complies with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand), which sets out 13 Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) governing how we collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information — including the purpose and manner of collection, secure storage, accuracy, retention limits, and using information only for the purpose it was collected or a directly related purpose. Sections 6 and 7 above describe how we disclose, and how you can access and correct, your Information, consistent with these principles.
Disclosure Outside New Zealand. Some of ANZAAN's service providers and hosting infrastructure are located outside New Zealand, including in the United States (see Section 12, International Users, below). Information Privacy Principle 12 provides that we may disclose personal information to an overseas recipient only if, among other things, "the individual concerned authorises the disclosure … after being expressly informed … that [the recipient] may not be required to protect the information in a way that, overall, provides comparable safeguards to those in this Act," or we reasonably believe the recipient is itself subject to the Privacy Act 2020, is subject to privacy laws that overall provide comparable safeguards, or is otherwise contractually required to protect the information to a comparable standard. We take these steps before your information is disclosed overseas.
Notifiable Privacy Breaches. Section 112 of the Act defines a notifiable privacy breach as "a privacy breach that it is reasonable to believe has caused serious harm to an affected individual or individuals or is likely to do so." If ANZAAN experiences a notifiable privacy breach, we will notify the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the affected individuals as soon as practicable, in accordance with Part 6 of the Act.
Making a Complaint. If you believe ANZAAN has breached your privacy rights, please contact us first at support@anzaan.com so we can try to resolve the issue. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your Personal Information — for example, rights to access, delete, correct, or restrict the use of your data, or to opt out of certain disclosures, under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@anzaan.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We have implemented reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your Information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no transmission of information over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of Information transmitted to our Services. Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk.
Our Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not register for the Services or send us any Information about yourself. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's use of the internet. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13, we will delete it as quickly as possible. If you believe a child under 13 may have provided us Information, please contact us at support@anzaan.com.
ANZAAN serves alumni communities around the world, and some of our servers and service providers are located outside New Zealand, including in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the country where our servers are located, your Information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in that country, where privacy laws may differ from those in your own. Before we disclose your personal information to a recipient outside New Zealand, we take the steps described in Section 8 (New Zealand Privacy Act 2020) to ensure that recipient offers comparable privacy protections, or we obtain your informed consent to the transfer. By using the Services, you acknowledge this cross-border handling of your Information.
"Do Not Track" is a standard still under development. Because it is not yet finalized, ANZAAN adheres to the practices described in this Policy and does not currently monitor or respond to Do Not Track browser signals.
ANZAAN reserves the right to update this Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Modified" date on this Policy, sending an electronic communication, posting a notice on the Services, or as otherwise required by law. Changes are effective immediately upon posting the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Services after a revised Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
